MONTREAL - You may have heard the protesters before you actually saw them on Thursday night. With many of them clanging pots, thousands of protesters marched peacefully through downtown streets to protest against university tuition hikes and Bill 78.
Residents also banged pots in areas such as Notre Dame de Grâce and the Plateau to show their displeasure with Bill 78, the special legislation adopted last week by Quebec’s National Assembly to try to resolve the three-month tuition dispute that has seen thousands of students boycotting classes.
