Kony 2012-Style PR Stunt To Sell War On Syria

Documentary to be produced by mercenary who fought with NATO-backed Libyan rebels

A mercenary who was previously embedded with U.S. troops and also fought with Libyan rebels is set to produce a documentary film in an effort to propagandize for the invasion of Syria, drawing his inspiration from Kony 2012, the infamous “viral” video that drew widespread criticism for its role in using manipulative techniques to grease the skids for U.S. military intervention in Africa.

33-year-old American Matthew VanDyke is a film maker and war correspondent who was embedded with the U.S. Military in Iraq. In 2011, VanDyke traveled to Libya to fight with NATO-backed rebels, many of whom were members of LIFG, an Al-Qaeda offshoot responsible for killing U.S. troops in Iraq.

VanDyke was subsequently imprisoned by the Libyan regime for nearly six months but managed to escape and aid rebels in overthrowing Colonel Gaddafi and turning Libya, once the richest country in Africa, into a chaotic NATO puppet state run by “out of control” sectarian thugs who have imprisoned, tortured and killed thousands of black Libyans.

Despite his direct aid and support for the LIFG, a group listed as a terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department, VanDyke faced no legal retribution from the U.S. government.

Even as many of the same Al-Qaeda terrorists who fought in Libya and Iraq now flood into Syria to back the insurgency against President Bashar Assad, VanDyke has announced he plans to travel to Syria to “join the rebels on the front line” and film a documentary as part of a “public relations campaign” to “generate an incredible amount of publicity” in creating support for the overthrow of the Syrian government.

Despite the fact that it was vehemently derided as a dumbed-down propaganda stunt which used falsehoods and emotional manipulation to convince viewers, VanDyke unashamedly cites Kony 2012 as his inspiration, noting that the film will be produced and released in the same manner.

As we documented at the time of its release, despite the fact that it used the plight of people in Uganda to push for further U.S. military intervention in AfricaKony 2012 actually enraged Ugandan people who rioted during a screening of the film.

Indeed, the backlash to Kony 2012 grew so intense that it caused director Jason Russell to have a mental breakdown. Footage later emerged of Russell engaged in a drug-fueled naked fit during which he screamed and allegedly masturbated openly on the street.

VanDyke is asking for donations to fund the project, while also canvassing people on Twitter to “Donate to send 2 #Libya fighters to #Syria!” He is trying to raise a minimum of $19,500 but adds that a figure of $100,000 “would allow for a tremendous publicity campaign for the film!”

Just like Kony 2012, VanDyke plans to use happy-clappy emotional manipulation to hoodwink viewers. Despite the fact that rebels have carried out massacres and bombings as well as summary executions of pro-Assad captives, VanDyke plans to portray them in a “very human, moving, and distinctive way.”

Another ironic twist to VanDyke’s urge to help Syrian rebels is the fact that his journalist friend John Cantlie was recently captured by so-called ‘Syrian’ rebels who told him of their plans to bring Shariah law to Syria. In reality, the men were described as “foreign jihadists,” many of whom had English accents and were from Britain, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

It’s also ironic that VanDyke calls himself a Christian, yet he is mobilizing funds to bankroll a pro-Syrian rebel documentary despite the fact that Syrian rebels have ransacked numerous Christian churches.

Despite a massive establishment media public relations campaign implying that Assad’s demise is just around the corner, insurgents are failing to make much progress against government forces in major cities. This is presumably why the military-industrial complex and mercenaries like VanDyke are being called upon to launch a new propaganda offensive aimed at legitimizing a NATO invasion.

While the RAND corporation is now citing the presence of Al-Qaeda fighters put there in the first place by NATO powers as a reason to intervene, VanDyke’s role will be to characterize Syrian rebels as democratic freedom fighters, when in reality they are largely comprised of opportunists and foreign insurgents doing the bidding of NATO in toppling Syria as the next phase of the contrived “Arab spring”.

WikiLeaks releases 2.4 million Syria emails

WikiLeaks has begun publishing more than 2 million emails from Syrian political figures that it says will shed light on the regime’s crackdown on dissent and embarrass Syria’s opponents.

The emails date back to 2006 but also cover the past 16 months, in which thousands have been killed in a bloody crackdown by Syrian president Bashar al-Assad’s forces.

The whistleblowing website says the files will give an insight into how the Assad government operates, and also reveal Western countries and businesses which continue to support Syria.

“They also reveal how the West and Western companies say one thing and do another,” the organisation said.

Read the Syria files.

WikiLeaks says the emails came from Syrian ministries including foreign affairs, finance and presidential affairs.

Australian WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange says the material is embarrassing to Syria, as well as to Syria’s opponents.

“It helps us not merely to criticise one group or another, but to understand their interests, actions and thoughts,” he said in a statement.

“It is only through understanding this conflict that we can hope to resolve it.”

Altogether, the site says it will publish 2,434,899 emails from 680 domains, which it is “statistically confident” are accurate and authentic.

It says there are 678,752 different email addresses involved, and 1,082,447 different recipients.

There are around 400,000 emails in Arabic but also 68,000 emails in Russian.

WikiLeaks says the first files reveal that Italian defence giant Finmeccanica has provided communications equipment to the Syrian regime since the unrest began.

WikiLeaks will not comment on the rest of the material until stories derived from the files are published.

It is not the first time Syrian emails have been leaked.

In March, Britain’s Guardian newspaper published emails which claimed Mr Assad’s wife Asma was spending tens of thousands of pounds on jewellery and fancy furniture amid the bloodshed.

The Syria files are WikiLeaks’ first major publication since it began disclosing internal emails from the US-based intelligence firm Stratfor in February.

WikiLeaks was forced to suspend many of its publishing operations last October after Visa, MasterCard and PayPal refused to continue processing donations to the whistleblowing website.

WikiLeaks’ publication comes amid continued wrangling between world powers about how the bloody conflict in Syria should be tackled.

The revolt, which started with peaceful pro-democracy protests, has turned into a something approaching a civil war as the government’s crackdown triggered an armed uprising.

Rights groups as many as 16,500 people have been killed in the 16-month uprising, while Mr Assad blames the deaths on “terrorist gangs”.

Asylum bid

Meanwhile, Mr Assange remains currently holed up in Ecuador’s embassy in London seeking political asylum.

He is seeking to avoid extradition to Sweden to face questioning on sex abuse allegations.

He denies the allegations, which he says are politically motivated.

WikiLeaks enraged Washington by releasing a flood of classified information and diplomatic cables in 2010, and Mr Assange says America wants to try him for leaking the documents.

Mr Assange fears that once he is in Sweden, the US will seek his extradition.

Even if he is granted asylum in Ecuador, British police say they will arrest him for being in breach of his bail conditions as soon as he sets foot outside the embassy.

Mr Assange was on $315,000 bail, which included the condition he spend nights at home.

Russian warships heading for Syria: Russian military source

A high-ranking source in the Russian defense ministry says several Russian warships are on their way to the Mediterranean Sea to guard Syrian coasts for the foreseeable future.

“A decision has been made to deploy Russian warships near the Syrian shores on a permanent basis,” the state-run RIA news agency quoted the source as saying on Friday.

The source added that the Russian destroyer Smetlivy, which is patrolling waters off Syria now, will be replaced by another warship from Black Sea Fleet in May.

The official says several warships are on their way to the Mediterranean.

In January, a large Russian navy flotilla led by an aircraft carrier arrived at the Syrian port of Tartus in the Mediterranean to show Moscow’s solidarity with Damascus.

Russia has voiced support for Syria against continued pressure from Western countries and some Arab states to destabilize the crisis-hit Middle Eastern country and topple the government of President Bashar al-Assad.

Moscow says Syria’s crisis should be solved through negotiations, rejecting military intervention to end the unrest.

Russia, Iran set to counter US/Israeli strike against Iran. US-led naval drill

DEBKAfile
April 3, 2012

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov issued a strong warning against a military attack on Iran Monday, April 2,, saying that a pre-emptive strike would violate international law. His comments, made during a visit to Armenia, stopped short of threatening (the US and/or Israel) of consequences. But they backed up and were in tune with the explicit threat from Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei last Thursday of strong Iranian resistance to foreign intervention in Syria and vow to defend Damascus as the “center of resistance against Israel.”

Western military observers link the two statements as representing an evolving Russian-Iranian front. After their shared success in delivering Bashar Assad from the revolt against his regime, the two partners are preparing to fend off a potential strike against Tehran’s nuclear program as well as shore up Iran’s regional interests from the Persian Gulf to the Mediterranean. They are getting set to counter two US-led steps, disclosed here byDEBKAfile:

1. Although the US-backed Friends of Syria 2, which took place Sunday, April 1, in Istanbul, offered the Syrian Free Army no direct assistance or support, Saudi Arabia and Qatar established an international fund to pay rebel fighters a regular wage. They hope to lure more officers and men into defecting from the army units loyal to Assad.
Moscow and Tehran view this step as Arab intervention in the Syrian conflict.

2. The US, Israel and Greece launched a shadowy air-naval exercise in the Mediterranean Thursday, March 29. Codenamed “Noble Dina,” it appears to range across a broad sweep of sea up to Crete and including the waters off Turkey, Cyprus, and Israel Navy bases in Haifa and Ashdod ports.

Obama’s Child Soldiers

Kurt Nimmo Infowars.com March 27, 2012

Here’s a cause for Angelina Jolie – the Syrian opposition’s child soldiers.

From Reuters today:

Syrian rebels fighting to oust President Bashar al-Assad have been accused of using children as fighters in violation of international conventions banning the recruitment of child soldiers, a senior U.N. official said on Monday.

Syrian opposition run by the CIA, Mossad and Blackwater.

The accusation follows the trial of Congolese warlord Thomas Lubanga Dyilo for the same thing. He was hauled before the United Nations court at The Hague and convicted of war crimes. A film produced about the child soldiers of renegade African warlord Joseph Kony received attention at the same time the UN convicted Lubanga Dyilo.

The group responsible for the film, Invisible Children, has since been exposed as a globalist NGO tool in a propaganda campaign coinciding with the Pentagon’s move into strategic and mineral-rich regions of Africa.

In addition to using child soldiers, the Syrian opposition is accused of having “kidnapped, tortured and executed members of supporters of Assad and members of his security forces” and repeating the now predictable pattern established in Libya.

Like Libya’s rebels, the Free Syrian Army is overrun by al-Qaeda operatives. The CIA, Mossad and Blackwater are calling the shots. This was spelled out in an Arab League report on the conflict.

Obama has pledged “non-lethal” assistance to the Free Syrian Army. “US officials said that the delivery of aid to rebel militias would dominate the agenda when the ‘Friends of Syria’, a coalition of Western and Arab powers opposed to Mr Assad, meet in Istanbul next Sunday,” the Telegraph explained on Sunday.

In other words, Obama – like Dyilo and Kony – is committing a war crime. He is facilitating behavior determined to be criminal and punishable by the international court run by his globalist masters.

Why Is The US And NATO Backing Extremist Muslim Terrorists?

Video shows Libyan rebels desecrating Christian graveyard

A shocking video appears to show Libyan rebels desecrating Christian and Jewish graves at a cemetery, further evidence that the same forces who helped NATO overthrow Gaddafi and are now carrying out attacks in Syria are extremist Muslims who care little for ‘freedom’ or ‘democracy’.

The clip shows Libyan rebels breaking apart headstones while shouting “Allahu Akbar”. The men later try to smash up a large Christian cross statue with sledgehammers.

This kind of behavior is par for the course given the fact that the western-backed regime change in Libya was achieved with the aid of Al-Qaeda terrorists who had previously fought against U.S. troops in Iraq.

Rebel forces in Libya were directed by Abdulhakim Belhadj, former leader of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG), which is designated as a terrorist organization by the US State Department. Libyan rebel leader Abdel-Hakim al-Hasidi admitted that Belhadj’s LIFG fighters were the second-largest cohort of foreign fighters in Iraq, responsible for killing U.S. troops.

Once the terrorist-led rebels executed Colonel Gaddafi, they proudly flew the distinctive black Al-Qaeda flag over courthouses in Benghazi and other centers of power. On the orders of Belhadj, the puppet National Transitional Council then announced that Sharia law would be reinstated.

Libyan rebels have since imposed a reign of terror over the country, incarcerating and torturing blacks and anyone suspected of supporting Gaddafi in concentration camps and cages.

These same terrorists were subsequently airlifted into Syria to fight NATO’s proxy war against President Bashar Al-Assad. Hillary Clinton admitted in a BBC News interview that the US and Al-Qaeda were on the same side in Syria.

Is it any surprise that Syrian “opposition” forces are now also rallying around the Al-Qaeda flag just as they did in Libya?

This video shows Syrian “activists” flying the Al-Qaeda flag during an anti-Assad protest in the northern Syrian town of Binnish.

In another clip, armed Syrian rebels address the camera standing behind a table draped with the black Al-Qaeda flag.

Why are western governments who are supposed to be engaged in a ‘war on terror’ against radical Muslim terrorists handing those very same terrorists control over entire countries?

Why is the establishment media, just as they did in Libya, describing rebels who fight under the Al-Qaeda flag, as “activists”?

Why are NATO powers like France and America arming radical Muslims who identify themselves as Al-Qaeda terrorists with anti-aircraft missiles?

Why is Senator John McCain calling for the United States to bomb Syria in support of Al-Qaeda terrorists?

Why is the Pentagon preparing to support these Al-Qaeda terrorists by launching “guerrilla attacks” and “assassination campaigns” inside Syria to topple Assad’s government?

NATO Invasion Of Syria Set For This Month?

NATO powers arm Al-Qaeda in pursuit of regime change

NATO member Turkey is arming Al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups as part of the international community’s efforts to help Syrian rebels overthrow President Bashar al-Assad, with a possible military invasion set for March, almost exactly a year after a virtually identical assault on Libya that was also achieved with the aid of Al-Qaeda terrorists.

Egyptian security officials told World Net Daily that, “Turkey has been arming al-Qaida and its affiliated group, Jihadiya Salafia, as part of efforts to support the so-called rebels in Syria.”

The officials also revealed that arms and training for the rebels is being provided by the United States, Saudi Arabia and Jordan, dovetailing with former FBI translator Sibel Edmonds’ report that hundreds of NATO and US troops arrived on the Jordanian and Syrian border back in December for the purpose of training militants to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad.

“Several knowledgeable Egyptian and Arab security officials claimed the U.S., Turkey and Jordan were running a training base for the Syrian rebels in the Jordanian town of Safawi in the country’s northern desert region,” states the WND report.

A March NATO bombardment of Syria, euphemistically termed a “no fly zone” by the mainstream media, would mirror almost precisely the timing and circumstances of the attack on Libya a year ago, which first came under assault on March 19, 2011, after NATO powers had spent weeks arming and directing Al-Qaeda-affiliated rebels.

“According to the Middle Eastern diplomatic and security officials speaking to WND, the international community is considering launching NATO air strikes on Assad’s forces as soon as this month if the opposition does not make major strides toward ending Assad’s regime,” states the report,.

Turkey’s involvement in arming terrorist groups to aid rebel fighters follows reports that France and the United States have provided the Free Syria Army with weapons and anti-aircraft missiles.

As we reported last week, during a BBC interview U.S. Secretary of State admitted that the United States and Al-Qaeda were on the same side when it came to achieving regime change in Syria.

Just as in Libya, where the overthrow of Gaddafi was achieved through the use of Al-Qaeda groups, NATO and the United States are once again turning to terrorists as a means of achieving their geopolitical objectives in the region.

Indeed, as we reported back in November, some of the same Al-Qaeda terrorists who fought U.S. troops in Iraq were airlifted into Syria to aid rebels. Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahri’s has also publicly expressed support for Syrian rebel forces.

A UN report found that the invasion of Libya led to a huge number of weapons finding their way into the hands of Al-Qaeda groups in North Africa. Those weapons are now being used to carry out bombing attacks against Syrian government targets, even as the mainstream media still refuses to acknowledge, as the Arab League report made clear, that there is indiscriminate violence occurring on both sides.

The corporate press has dutifully echoed the official talking point that only Assad’s forces are responsible for violence against “innocent demonstrators,” even as those “demonstrators” are seen firing rocket-propelled grenades, while showcasing dubious “activists” like ‘Syria Danny’ who are given ample time by the likes of CNN to beg for a US-led military invasion.

Hillary Clinton Admits US and Al-Qaeda On Same Side in Syria

US and France arm rebels with anti-aircraft missiles

Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet.com
Thursday, March 1, 2012

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has admitted that Al-Qaeda and other groups on the State Department’s terror list are on the same side as the United States in Syria and that they are aiding opposition rebels.

In an interview with BBC News (watch video), Clinton states, “We have a very dangerous set of actors in the region, Al-Qaeda, Hamas, and those who are on our terrorist list, to be sure, supporting – claiming to support the opposition [in Syria].”

Clinton’s admission that Al-Qaeda is supporting the armed insurrection in Syria dovetails with reports that the same Al-Qaeda terrorists who helped overthrow Colonel Gaddafi in Libya were airlifted into Syria by NATO forces.

Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahri’s has also publicly expressed support for Syrian rebel forces.

These terrorists have been blamed for bloody attacks that have killed both Syrian regime officials and innocent civilians, including a bombing earlier this month in Syria’s second city of Aleppo which killed 28 people.

The recent Arab League report, which was almost universally ignored by the mainstream media, also concluded that both sides of the conflict were responsible for indiscriminate violence and that terrorist groups were helping the rebels carry out attacks.

Despite the admission that terrorists are aiding opposition forces in Syria, the establishment media has attempted to pour cold water on the issue, primarily through mouthpieces like ‘Syria Danny’ – an “activist” who has been afforded ample time by the corporate press to beg for a military invasion.

“It is richly ironic that the unelected fundamentalist Sunni regimes of the Persian Gulf are supporting Al Qaeda affiliated groups within Syria purportedly to “bring about democratic reforms,” writes Professor Michel Chossudovsky. “This is the same dynamic that prevailed in Libya where the overthrow of that country’s government by Western and Gulf Arab powers has now led to a collapse in human rights and social conditions.”

Despite claims to the contrary, a general in the Free Syria Army, the opposition militia, has told journalists that the rebels are being armed with anti-aircraft missiles by the United States and France.

“In Homs on Tuesday, a general claiming to be from the rebel group appeared on camera and told a journalist from Reuters news agency that “French and American assistance has reached us and is with us.” When asked to elaborate on the nature of the assistance he added, “We now have weapons and anti-aircraft missiles and, God willing, with all of that we will defeat Bashar [President Assad],” reports RT.

Former FBI translator Sibel Edmonds also reported that US troops landed on the Jordanian and Syrian border back in December for the purpose of training militants to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad.

It was also revealed earlier this month that British Special Forces are already on the ground in Syria advising and directing the rebel army.
